FRIDAY NEWS WRAP-UP: North Central Academy Hires Principal; "Acting" Principal Brian Lynch Can Stop Acting. Recently Returned Pat Cleland Now MIA.

Steven Ingersoll's North Central Academy recently announced the hiring of Rich Satterlee as the Mancelona school's new Principal.

Brian Lynch's Mitten Educational Management described Satterlee's appointment in an October 5 Facebook post (a Facebook post?), stating he arrives at “NCA with over 25 years of experience in leadership and Mitten is confident that he will be the person to further the mission and vision set in place at NCA.”

Although head of the Bay City Academy/North Central Academy's management company, Lynch simultaneously served as the Mancelona school's “acting Principal”.

Hmmm? Didn't know you could do that!

While Pat Cleland appeared to be at the helm in Mancelona after the abrupt dismissal of former Building Leader Kurt Grangood as the new school year began, Cleland has been MIA for the last couple weeks.

Cleland's absence may be related to a recent operating without security (driving without valid insurance) violation.

Scheduled for arraignment at a 2:00pm hearing on October 18 in Grand Traverse County's 86th District Court, Cleland could face up to a year in jail, and a potential fine of between $200 and $500 if found guilty.

In addition, Cleland could have his license suspended or revoked, his license plate may not be renewed or could be cancelled, and could face an additional administrative fine.

Arrested on May 25, 2015, Cleland was formally arraigned September 22, 2015 on one count each of stalking and attempted possession of a controlled substance analogue.

In addition, Leelanau County court records reveal a northern Michigan woman sought, and received, a personal protection order against Cleland on May 26, 2015; Cleland was served on June 8, 2015.

Less than 24 hours before jury selection was set to begin, Cleland opted against a trial and instead struck a plea deal in 86th District Court. Cleland plead guilty to the stalking charge and, in return, prosecutors dropped the drug charge.

According to the terms of Cleland's delayed sentence, negotiated for him by Traverse City attorney Patrick E. Heintz, the stalking charge could be dismissed after a successful two-year probation period.

  1. It appears that good old Brian Lynch is making the best decisions for kids once again! Will somebody please explain why in the hell a person like Cleland was brought back to a school? As far as I'm concerned, that guy should be bouncing off the walls in a psych ward.

It's alright though, because brilliant ass hole Brian Lynch is running the show. Child labor at that school is in full operation now, teachers are still underpaid and treated like garbage and Lynch doesn't give a crap about anything else but himself. Sounds like a great place to work!

Brian Lynch will run that school right into the ground while stashing as much money as he possibly can away so that when all fails, he's set.

I wonder what Mitten Managements fee is based on overall funds for BCA and NCA? I'll bet it's so high because of Lynch's 5 yrs as a charter school teacher followed by a jump to superintendent. That experience and knowledge demands the salary he gets. Even superintendents with 30 yrs experience don't even make what Lynch pays himself I'll bet.

People like Lynch and his father in law Noss are gonna ruin so many people's lives with their lies and bullshit scams. People like Ingersoll Noss and Lynch are the scum of education.
