BORN ON THE 5th OF JULY: Traverse City Attorney Jan Geht Launches TCAPS Board Campaign With 'Gehtbetter.com'; 'Conduit' Theorist Geht Currently Defending Former Grand Traverse Academy Manager, Convicted Tax Cheat Steven Ingersoll

“Running for the TCAPS Board of Education is my way of continuing to serve our community by drawing on my extensive experience as a problem solver. I bring two decades of success as an accountant and as a lawyer at the highest levels of each profession. I have faced down tax-evading Fortune 500 companies while working at the U.S. Department of Justice.”
Jan Geht

And if that isn't chutzpah, then I don't know what is!

The classic definition of chutzpah comes from the late screenwriter Leo Rosten, who put it this way: "that quality enshrined in a man who, having killed his mother and father, throws himself on the mercy of the court because he is an orphan."

Miss Fortune wishes Mr. Geht good luck with his ballsy move, even though it's so cringe-worthy you can almost feel it.

  1. This is just ludicrous! Here is a man that is a lawyer, Mr. Geht and he is defending one of the biggest charter cheaters in our state. Remember charter schools are publically funded. Mr. Geht is giving Mr. Ingersoll a defense filled of bullshit and lies, skirting around every possible angle he can pull in the book and he wants to run for the board of TCAPS. Are you out of your mind, he has no morals, otherwise he would not have taken over for the other lawyer that quit because of non payment from Mr. Steve Ingersoll.

Steve Ingersoll and Mark Noss are in bed together fleecing the taxpayers of money for their charter school scams at Bay City Academy and Grand Traverse Academy. Mr. Geht has helped both of these men and he wants to run for the board of TCAPS. I am in shock. If the people of Grand Traverse County elect this man they are uninformed. What is his motive?
Save our children Get Geht's off the ballet!

    1. A clarification: Geht was part of Ingersoll's original defense team and represented him during the federal trial. In addition, Martin Crandall's Clark Hill was not allowed to "quit", and served as Ingersoll's criminal defense attorney during his trial. Ingersoll and his wife, Deborah, currently owe Clark Hill roughly $361,000 in outstanding legal fees. According to recently released federal court documents,Ingersoll owes Geht's law firm $106,000.

    2. How dare Geht think that with all his experience he could serve the T.C. community by being a public school board member. I doubt it is he way of redeeming himself from representing Ingersoll, the thief par excellence. The Record-Eagle needs to do some work on this and inform the public...

  2. Thanks for the clarification. I can always count on you to have the essential facts and correct my thoughts. I don't know what the world would do without you, you are an asset to our towns! We would not get the real facts if we depended on the radio stations or newspapers. Thank you again!

    1. Amen! Thank you, Miss Fortune!

  3. It's unfortunate that many people who run for school board have an agenda other than providing the best education possible for the school district's children. Houghton Lake Schools are a good example of that.

So, the question that needs to be asked, what is Jan Geht's agenda?
