IN BLACK AND WHITE: Robert Buckhannon Sentenced To 24 Months In Federal Prison, Ordered To Pay $467,213.98 In Restitution, Fines

Buckhannon sought probation, no prison time.

The long road to the Grey Bar Hotel ended this morning for Robert Buckhannon in a federal courtroom in Grand Rapids: Battle Creek's “crooked chiropractor” was sentenced to 24 months in prison.

Buckhannon was ordered to pay a total of $467,213.98: a $100.00 assessment, a $1,000.00 fine and $436,559.56 in total restitution to Blackburne & Sons Realty Capital Corporation and Auto-Owners Insurance.

Upon release from federal prison, Buckhannon will be under supervised release for another 24 months.

A surrender date was not established; Buckhannon will be notified shortly by the US Marshal Service.

    1. I tell you our federal system sucks. Do that to the state see how much time you get. Give me a half a million dollars. I'll do two years on my freaking head.

    2. In my opinion, it's unlikely Buckhannon will pay his restitution. In 2010, Buckhannon agreed to pay nearly $1.5 million to settle a federal SEC complaint that he participated in a $34 million investment fraud victimizing hedge fund investors. After filing a $37 million dollar bankruptcy in 2010, assets worth $315,300.17 were recovered. Buckhannon still owes the SEC $1,479,600.

    1. It's likely because Buckhannon and DeMoss were not charged with arson.
