FAKE IT TILL YOU MAKE IT: Team5 TCAPS Didn't Do Its Homework, Straight-Up Copied Another District's Strategic Plan...Didn't Anyone Think We'd Notice?

NOTE THE COMMENTS: Another version of the strategic plan post appears on the Team5 TCAPS page in the Info and Ads section; I apologize for calling out a derivative post without acknowledging a previous, less imitative source.

Hoo, boy...it's getting hot in here!

It looks like Team5 TCAPS didn't do their own homework, but just decided to steal a Knoxville, Tennessee school district's strategic plan and present it as their own—even leaving the Knox County Schools' name clearly visible in the graphic posted yesterday, November 3, on the group's Facebook page.

Commenting on a post that originally appeared October 30 on The Ron Jolly Show's Facebook page, Team5 touted its commitment to developing a strategic plan with the input of a broad range of stakeholders, and used Knox County's plan in place of Team5's proposed effort.

The close-up below shows the 'Draft' watermark, along with reference to Knox County Schools.

Here is the entire page appropriated by Team5 TCAPS:

Even if you're grading on the curve, this one deserves an F!

  1. Rather then posting partial and misleading information, why not reference their entire post:

Team5 Moms have been studying other school districts that have succeeded in engaging their local communities to work collaboratively in developing a district wide strategic plan. One district stood out - Knox County Public Schools. KCPS held a series of 11 community meetings to gather valuable input and share ideas. This was used to develop a 5-year strategic plan focusing on improving academic achievement in a positive culture. We are impressed with KCPS' success both in academic achievement and in community engagement. As Board members, the Team5 Moms will propose a similar model for TCAPS. We look forward to our first community meeting in 2019!

  2. I am unable to locate the "post" referenced in the comment; you will note the screen grab presented the plan details in the November 3 post.

Here is the copy from that post:

“The Team5 candidates are the only ones with a plan for TCAPS. We have chosen to run together based on the CORE VALUES we share. We believe that TCAPS is capable of achieving greater goals than 50 percentile in the state of Michigan once the Board recognizes that status quo is not a good plan for the future. We are committed to a developing a strategic plan with the input of a broad range of stakeholders - parents, teachers, staff, and community. That will require protections for ALL employees to speak openly and honestly in sharing their opinions and ideas. Constrictive criticism will not be punished - it is necessary for growth and POSITIVE CHANGE. Other public school districts have accomplished this while increasing community engagement. We look forward to our fist COMMUNITY INPUT MEETING in 2019!”

  3. So you are waiting for me to respond with the missing link? Why don’t you post my last comment?

I will try again: my comment was copy and pasted from Team5s Facebook page. They posted it on Friday November 2nd at 12:30pm. Very easy to scroll down and find it. They never took credit or plagiarized another schools plan. But why tell the truth when stirring shit is more fun. Right?

    1. Seriously, I published your comments--both of them. Although there is no post with a November 2 12:30pm timestamp on the Team5 TCAPS Facebook page, there is one on the "Info and Ads" page: https://www.facebook.com/pg/team5tcaps/ads/?ref=page_internal

If I just wanted to stir s**t, I would have made fun of "constrictive" criticism.
