“Don’t vote for traditional school taxes for buildings and equipment!
It’s the voters, YOU, who vote on those traditional public schools millages and if they pass, it is you who will pay.
Vote NO!”
Letter from Chuck Stockwell to Charyl Stockwell Academy parents, soliciting money for “teacher grants”
And send me money, honey!
Up North Progressive broke a stunning story yesterday, exclusively reporting on a letter sent by co-founder Chuck Stockwell to parents whose children attend the Charyl Stockwell Academy.
Originally formed in 1995 as the Monroe Developmental Academy, Stockwell later teamed with with disgraced charter school tax cheat, Steven Ingersoll, and former Grand Traverse Academy manager Mark Noss to create the Livingston Developmental Academy in 1999. The Howell, Michigan school was renamed the Charyl Stockwell Academy in June 2001 to honor Stockwell's daughter, right before she lost her battle with brain cancer.
Chuck Stockwell's letter is both a diatribe against traditional public schools and a peculiarly aggressive fundraising effort.
You can read the letter, and Up North Progressive's impressive, and comprehensive, report at this link.

At the end of the day, it's still a public school.
