An interesting development in the search for a new TCAPS Superintendent.
Denise Herrmann, identified as a second round interview candidate April 28 by the TCAPS Board of Education, resigned from her position as Superintendent of Roseville Joint Union High School District the same day.
The California school district announced Herrmann's departure April 28, and revealed she had been on an unspecified “leave of absence” since early April.
A Sacramento area news source reported the RJUHSD board discussed the “appointment, employment, evaluation of performance, discipline, and/or dismissal of a public employee related to the following position: Superintendent” during a closed session at its April 28 district board meeting.
Herrmann’s tenure as principal of Palo Alto, California’s Gunn High School was marred by conflict with her staff, including a formal grievance the teachers' union filed in 2015 accusing her of violating their contract by asking all Gunn teachers to use online management system Schoology to post their homework assignments.
Teachers eventually agreed in a new contract to comply with her request.
The TCAPS Board of Education moved the second round interview/special board meetings originally scheduled for May 11th and 12th to May 18th and 19th.
So is Herrmann on the glide path...or did her TCAPS candidacy just hit the skids?
Maybe we'll have an answer later this week.
